Privacy, in plain language

Your saved pages belong to you.

Effective October 3, 2026

The short version

CappyCap saves a page only when you ask it to. Local saving works without an account. We do not sell personal data, use saved pages for advertising, or monitor browsing history in the background.

What stays in Chrome

When you save locally, CappyCap stores the page title, a cleaned web address, your optional note and favorite, the save time, and a compressed image of the visible tab in Chrome’s local extension storage. It also stores extension preferences and sync status.

CappyCap reads the active tab only after you deliberately use the toolbar button, keyboard shortcut, or context-menu action. It does not collect your general browser history.

Optional private sync

If you choose to connect an account, CappyCap uses Supabase for authentication, per-account saved-page records, and private image storage. Synced data can include your account email, cleaned URLs, titles, notes, favorites, categories, timestamps, and compressed screenshots. Ownership rules keep each account’s rows and files separate, and the web library displays private screenshots through short-lived access links.

Disconnecting sync does not delete local caps. CappyCap never ships a service-role or other privileged database credential in the extension or website.

URL privacy cleanup

Before storing, reopening, exporting, or syncing a link, CappyCap removes embedded credentials, fragments, common ad-tracking keys, identity fields, session or authentication tokens, and signed-link secrets. Query values needed to identify the page are preserved.

Service providers

Netlify hosts the CappyCap website. Supabase provides optional account authentication, database, and private file storage. These providers process data only to operate the CappyCap service under their own security and privacy terms.

CappyCap currently has no third-party product analytics transport, advertising service, or data broker. Privacy-safe action events are defined in the code but are not sent anywhere unless a future version deliberately configures and discloses a provider.

Your controls

  • Edit or delete individual saved pages.
  • Export and import a local extension backup.
  • Disconnect optional sync while keeping local caps.
  • Export synced metadata or delete all synced pages in the web library.

Local data remains in the Chrome profile until you delete it, remove it through CappyCap, or remove the extension and Chrome clears its storage. Synced pages remain until you delete them.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

CappyCap’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide or improve CappyCap’s user-facing save, library, backup, and sync features.

Changes

If CappyCap’s data practices materially change, this page and the in-product disclosure will be updated before the new practice takes effect.
